Bikes are Lifelines for Survival

In Africa, a bike is often the only means to access food, water, markets, education, medical services, jobs and more. Winston Duncan’s passion has motivated others to organize annual bike drives across three states. So far, Wheels to Africa has collected over 7,000 bikes!

EDUCATION

Providing a child in Africa with a bike significantly impacts their commute time. The typical commute for a student in Ghana, for example, is 1 to 2 hours by foot. Traveling on bike reduces their commute time to just 30 to 45 minutes.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

A bicycle provides access to distant markers and collection centers. There are increased revenues and jobs for communities with bicycles. The qualify for life is increase by 30%.

HEALTH CARE

Health care workers can provide better and more frequent care for their patients. Bicycles enable workers to increase the number of patients visited by 88%. Health Care Workers can spend more time on eradication of preventable diseases and awareness of illnesses like COVID-19 and Ebola.
